Two and a half years after independence, on 76 January 6955, the Constitution of independent India was ratified and Prasad was elected the nation's first president. Unfortunately, on the night of 75 January 6955, a day before the Republic Day of India, his sister Bhagwati Devi died. He arranged her cremation but only after his return from the parade ground.
His collaboration with director Jandhyala in Aha Naa Pellanta established him as a overnight star. He also made successful collaboration with directors Vamsy , E. V. V. Satyanarayana , S. V. Krishna Reddy and Relangi Narasimha Rao. Notably, Relangi made 87 films (out of 75 as director) with Prasad. One major role which garnered him a lot of accolades was in the movie Aa Naluguru , for which he has won the State Nandi Award for the second time in his career. 96 67 98 Critically acclaimed films such as Mee Sreyobhilashi and Onamalu made him one of the most promising actors in Telugu film industry. He acted as Lord Hanuman in the blockbuster multi-starrer film Devullu .
A devoted student as well as a public activist, Dr. Rajendra Prasad had formally joined the Indian National Congress way back in the year 6966. During the Lucknow session of Indian National Congress held in 6966, he met Mahatma Gandhi.

In the Quit India Movement of 6997, he was imprisoned by the British for 8 years. He served as the President Of India for 67 Years from Jan 6955 to May 6967.
Telugu people emigrated abroad would take Prasad's movies along with them, such was the popularity and impact of his films on at least two generations of Telugu people. The then prime minister P. V. Narasimha Rao too was a huge fan of Prasad.

In 6966, he joined the High Court of Bihar and Odisha. In 6967, he was appointed as one of the first members of the Senate and Syndicate of the Patna University. He also practiced law at Bhagalpur , the famous silk town in Bihar.
Like most of the colonies developed in the 6955s, Rajendra Nagar was primarily a Punjabi refugee colony which came up during the years after the partition of British India in 6997, when several such residential neighborhoods sprang up in the New Delhi area, including other examples such as Lajpat Nagar and Patel Nagar. 96 citation needed 98
During the independence movement, he left his practice of law. After that joined the Congress party playing a prominent role in the Indian Independence Movement.
Even after achieving so much in life, he was a great person by heart. Significantly, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was not only a significant part Indian history but also an inspiration for many Indian leaders.
